Over 200 Business Service Organizations partner to provide resources for Small Businesses in Dallas County
Dallas, Texas— The City of Dallas collaborated with over 200 business service organizations to form a first-ever, Dallas county-wide small business ecosystem (B.U.I.L.D), with a strong focus on small to medium, women and minority-owned businesses. B.U.I.L.D (Broaden Urban Investments to Leverage Dallas) will unify the wealth of resources and initiatives across Dallas county to provide a centralized resource for small businesses at every stage of the business-cycle. From entrepreneurs in the idea phase, to early stage businesses, to businesses that seek to grow and scale, small businesses throughout Dallas County can count on B.U.I.L.D to reliably access technical training, business funding, gain capacity building guidance, mentorship, and valuable resources.

Broadnax. “This ecosystem will be a valuable asset in our dedication and service to help create a better experience for our small business owners”
Small business owners often experience confusion navigating the dizzying array of business resources available due to the lack of framework and organization around those resources. For women-owned and minority-owned businesses, the barriers to accessible resources can be further compounded.

The new B.U.I.L.D. website will provide a user-friendly, reliable, and updated centralized resource to help small businesses understand the abundance of resources available to them and help identify those that fit their unique needs. The B.U.I.L.D. Ecosystem organizations are also working together to promote seamlessness and continuity of resources as businesses’ needs evolve and grow.
Small business owner Braylon Lester of 3DL Construction Management states “Small business owners need assistance navigating the business resources available to us. We need hard money, soft money and relationships with CDFI’s I have to lot to build on and grateful for the help”.
The B.U.I.L.D. Ecosystem was developed in partnership with various Dallas County organizations and spearheaded by workgroup leaders Michelle Williams (Redbird Dec), Brian K. Marshal (BCL of Texas), Benjamin Vann (Impact Ventures) and DeNita Lacking-Quinn (City of Dallas – Office of Business Diversity).
