Media Advisory
The Mayor and City Council Inauguration Ceremony will be held on Monday, June 17, at the AT&T Performing Arts Center Margot & Bill Winspear Opera House. The ceremony coincides with the 10th Anniversary of the opening of the Winspear Opera House, one of the crown jewels of the Dallas Arts District.
The Inauguration Ceremony officially recognizes the new Mayor and Council Members elected to office, as well as acknowledges the contributions of outgoing City Council Members. Lobby doors open at 9 a.m., and the ceremony begins at 10 a.m. A reception will follow the conclusion of the ceremony. The event is free and open to the public.
Shortly after the ceremony, the new City Council will return to Dallas City Hall to hold their first Special Called Council meeting to elect the Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem.
Public parking is available at the Lexus Silver Garage, Lexus Red Garage and Booker T. Washington High School parking lot at no cost. Once these are full, guests may pay to park in any of the available surface lots or garages in the Arts District. There is no metered parking near the venue.
