A new community resource, called Community Baby Café, has opened in North Dallas. Sponsored by the City of Dallas WIC Program, the Community Baby Café will hold an Open House and Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, December 7 from 1-3 p.m. at 8202 Spring Valley Road, Dallas, TX 75240. This will be the perfect opportunity for the medical community to visit the facility, meet our staff and learn how we can be a referral source for your clients.
The Community Baby Café is the newest member of an international organization of drop-in centers for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. The concept started in England and has spread internationally. There are eight Baby Cafés in the United States, and this location is the fourth one in Texas.
The Community Baby Café is the place where mothers from all walks of life can get professional advice from certified lactation consultants, free of charge, in a comfortable non-clinical setting. No appointment is needed. Parents can make friends, share stories and concerns with other parents, and get help on feeding their infants naturally from the caring, certified staff. Mothers can visit the Community Baby Café as often as they want.
Families can meet as individuals or groups with Breastfeeding Professionals in a relaxed, casual setting. The Baby Café offers free Wi-Fi, a lounge for Dads, a separate area for younger kids, complete with books and DVDs.
For questions about the Grand Opening Ceremony or about the Baby Café, contact Community Baby Café Coordinator Mary Jo Williams at 214-243-2104 or Sandra Rodriguez for Spanish speakers.
