City of Dallas to break ground on new Lake Highlands Family Aquatic Center


What     Groundbreaking for new Lake Highlands Family Aquatic Center

Dallas Park and Recreation begins implementing the first phase of its 2015 Aquatics Master Plan that addressed the city’s need for larger, diverse and modern aquatic venues. The plan calls for the construction of new facilities branded as regional, community and neighborhood. The Lake Highlands Community Family Aquatics Center ground breaking is scheduled for summer 2018 with expected public opening in summer of 2019.

Where   Lake Highlands North Park

Ceremony will take place on the south side of Church Road near the tennis courts.  The Parking lot for the Recreation Center is located at 9940 White Rock Trail but when attending this ceremony, please park in the Lake Highlands Stadium parking area on the north side of Church Road. 


Larger than most cities' standard public swimming pools, family aquatic centers feature more enhanced water features and facility amenities to give users of all ages unique, waterpark experiences in their communities. More municipalities are opting to build these kinds of facilities to add diversity to existing aquatics activities, according to industry trends published by the National Recreation and Park Association.
