10 Councilmember Adam McGough presents the State of the District to Highlight Economic
Development, Transportation and community successes in Lake Highlands and
Hamilton Park
Dallas City Councilman Adam McGough will present the All in
D10 State of the District tonight (May 22, 2018) at 7 p.m. at Highland Oaks
Church of Christ at 10805 Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas, TX 75238. Councilman McGough
will detail development, public safety measures, educational initiatives and
accomplishments across the district at the annual event. The public is invited
to attend.
“As best we can tell, there has never been this much
economic development and restaurants opening at one time in the history of
District 10,” said Economic Development Director Courtney Pogue.
Numerous projects have been approved, are in the
construction phase or newly-completed, including the long-awaited Lake
Highlands Town Center at Walnut Hill Lane and Skillman. Other projects include
Creekside at Skillman and Abrams, the Flag Pole Hill Bike Trail, the noise
walls along Interstate 635 East and renovation work is slated to begin soon at
the Lakeridge Shopping Center at Audelia Road and Walnut Hill Lane.
Other projects that will soon enter the construction phase
are the LBJ-Skillman Gateway Bridge, a new Aquatics Center at the Lake
Highlands North Recreation Center, a state-of-the-art library to replace Forest
Green Library, an all-abilities playground at Flag Pole Hill and the former
Jules E. Muchert Army Reserve Center will become a Dallas Parks and Recreation
Center facility to include a Community Room for citizens to utilize.
Park and Recreation Board Vice Chair Robb Stewart says the
playground at Flag Pole Hill will be completed by September 15, 2018 and is
designed for all children including those with special abilities. “It’s going to
be the premier playground in the City of Dallas. It’s an all-abilities,
all-inclusive playground.”
Kathy Stewart, the Executive Director of the Lake Highlands
Public Improvement District (PID) and the North Lake Highlands PID, says the
development is fulfilling the goal to create community and promote economic
development. “I think that people have been working toward that goal for years,
and we are finally there.”
