Trinity Watershed Management to test Able No. 3 Pump Station

City of Dallas’ Trinity Watershed Management announces the testing of the pumps at the new Able No. 3 Pump Station at 615 S. Riverfront Blvd.  The testing will begin on Tuesday, April 3, weather permitting, and will continue for four to six weeks. Commuters may see a water spout between Jefferson and Houston Street Bridges for varying lengths of time, and intermittently during the testing period.

“Testing these high-capacity pumps is an exciting milestone in terms of flood protection for the City.  Each of the four Concrete Volute Pumps in the new Able Station feature a pumping capacity of 220,000 gallons per minute. Just one of the new pumps equals the capacity of the two original stations”, said Sarah Standifer, director of Trinity Watershed Management.

The completion of Able No. 3 Pump Station is anticipated in late 2018, contingent on weather. It will be largest of the new stormwater pump stations built by the City of Dallas.
