MEDIA ADVISORY
Mayor Mike Rawlings, Dallas County DA Faith Johnson call for increased enforcement to keep guns from domestic abusers

Mayor Mike Rawlings and Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson are calling for renewed collaboration and enforcement to keep guns out of the hands of family violence defendants through the Dallas County Gun Surrender Program. That program was put in place in 2015 with the hope that judges would order family violence defendants and convicts to surrender their guns. Thus far, the program has not produced the desired results.

Mayor Rawlings and District Attorney Johnson will be joined by Criminal Court Judge Roberto Cañas, Jr. and Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall to speak and answer questions about the gun surrender program and related matters.
