Dallas
– An early morning fire partially destroyed an office and toys gathered for
donation at the Asante apartment complex. Now, Councilmember Tennell Atkins is
encouraging the community to join him in helping to replace the toys ahead of
the holidays.
Quest 4 Greater Success, a local non-profit, originally gathered the toys
for a holiday giveaway for more than 50 families in need.
Assata
Thomas, director of the non-profit, issued a plea to help them replace what was
lost in the fire.
Councilmember
Atkins is asking people to help the non-profit by donating new toys for the
families at the Janie C. Turner Recreation Center. The toy drive will begin at
9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, and continue through Friday, December 15.
The
toys will then be donated to the original families in need on Saturday,
December 16, at Asante Apartments beginning at 9 a.m. to noon. The hope is to get
enough toys to replace those that were lost.
