Construction on Katy Trail, Phase VI Continues with Installation of Bridge
First of three tower supports to be installed
Dallas-On Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 9:00 p.m. to Friday, April21, 5:00 a.m. contractors will install the first of three tower supports south of Mockingbird Lane and east of Central Expressway. The towers are major structures required to support the Katy Trail VI Signature Pedestrian Bridge. Tower support installations will require traffic detours. Mockingbird eastbound traffic lanes will be closed to thru traffic, detoured along northbound Central Expressway access road and east on Lovers Lane to southbound Greenville Avenue, to Mockingbird Lane. Electronic message boards have been placed announcing the detour.
“The signature pedestrian bridge will be a major component of the Katy Hike and Bike Trail which is part of a network of trails extending throughout Dallas”, says Mobility and Street Services Director, Rick Galceran. “The second and third towers will be installed on the north side of Mockingbird in a week or so, paving the way for the bridge structure to begin to take shape”, Galceran continued.
