MAYOR RAWLINGS AND CITI
ANNOUNCE LAUNCH OF A PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP
IN SUPPORT OF NEIGHBOR UP

DALLAS - Mayor Mike Rawlings and Citi Community Development announced today a public-private partnership in support of Neighbor Up. Citi is the title sponsor for the innovative nonprofit organization, providing $180,000 of the $500,000 raised by GrowSouth to identify and implement strategic plans and activities that will improve the quality of life in each area.

“This partnership will show that entities can work together to make our city stronger, safer and more vibrant for all residents,” said Mayor Rawlings. “It represents the spirit of camaraderie that is needed to move neighborhoods forward, and I commend Citi Community Development for helping to make it a reality.”

The Neighbor Up nonprofit organization will focus on accelerating economic growth in three southern Dallas neighborhoods. It is part of Mayor Rawlings’ GrowSouth initiative, which is dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods and economic development in Southern Dallas.

A general manager has been hired to work in each of the selected communities. Those Neighbor Up leaders are charged with identifying the key drivers of economic disparity in each community and working to streamline the services and resources necessary to address those challenges, including through development of a strategic neighborhood plan.

“According to data from FamilyAssetsCount.org, more than 50 percent of Dallas households are financially vulnerable,” said Debbie Taylor, U.S. Market Director for Citi Community Development. “This data reveals great opportunity to strengthen economic security for Dallas residents so that they can contribute to the city’s economic potential. By developing a holistic approach that brings together government, nonprofit and corporate partners, we aim to ensure that Dallas is able to unlock its full potential for robust and resilient economic growth.”
