Whether organizing a large neighborhood event, running a nonprofit or helping children become volunteers, Texans are getting the job done — despite the pandemic. Across the state, citizens are adapting to the “new normal.”

In June, Fiscal Notes’ Line Items spoke with Julie Beaubien about her son Paul’s graduation, Holly McDaniel about Austin Diaper Bank and Beth Foulds about Generation SERVE. All three exemplify the power of adaptability, creativity and teamwork as they keep things moving under challenging circumstances — whether it’s planning a socially distanced parade for 100 high school seniors, distributing 70,000 diapers each month or coordinating the efforts of 1,900 youth volunteers.

In case you missed it, May’s Fiscal Notes looked at the initial impact of COVID-19 on the Texas economy.
