Tobacco User Premium Differential Deduction Added to USPS, SPRS and HRIS

Senate Bill 1664, 82nd Legislature, Regular Session, mandated that tobacco users pay a premium differential for their health insurance coverage starting Jan. 1, 2012. Uniform Statewide Payroll/Personnel System (USPS) and Standardized Payroll/Personnel Reporting System (SPRS) Application Change Requests (ACRs) have migrated to implement this legislation:

Employees of institutions of higher education covered by the Employees Retirement System Group Benefits Program can report to the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) with deduction code TOB. See Appendix C in HRIS Reporting Requirements (FPP M.005) or Chapter 5 of the HRIS Online Inquiry and Entry Guide (FPP M.004) for a listing of deduction codes.

Please contact your USPS, SPRS or HRIS representative if you have any questions.
