Comptroller Recommends Changing Payroll Dates On or Before Columbus Day Holiday

Financial institutions will be closed on Oct. 10 in observance of the Columbus Day holiday. This means tax payments will not be transmitted to the IRS until Oct. 11 for payrolls dated Oct. 7 or Oct. 10. To avoid an IRS penalty for late payments, the Comptroller’s office strongly recommends that state agencies not process payrolls with payment dates of Oct. 7 or Oct. 10.
