Texas Comptroller’s Office Hosting Meetings to Discuss Agricultural and Timber Registration Number Renewals

(AUSTIN) — The Texas Comptroller’s Office is hosting two meetings Thursday, Sept. 17, to discuss how Agricultural and Timber Registration Number renewals affect retailers and purchasers of items used in the production of agricultural and timber products.

A meeting for retailers will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, with a meeting for purchasers from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Both sessions will be at the Comptroller’s office in Austin, 111 E. 17th St., Room 114. Attendees must show identification at the front desk. We invite parties interested in this issue to register to participate, either in person or by telephone.

Complete the online registration for the retailers’ meeting or the purchasers’ meeting. Registration is open through today, Sept. 16.

Agriculture and Timber Registration Numbers issued by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts must be renewed every four years, regardless of when those numbers were first issued. The current numbers expire Dec. 31, 2015.

To continue claiming the exemption on qualifying purchases on or after Jan. 1, 2016, agricultural and timber producers must renew their current Agricultural and Timber Registration Number.

For more information, see the Texas Taxes for Agriculture and Timber Industries Web page.
