The City of Arlington saw a 12% decrease in overall crime from 2024 to 2025, according to new year-end data released by the Arlington Police Department.
As part of their commitment to transparency and data-driven decision making, APD voluntarily submits annual crime data to the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS), a national database maintained by the FBI that helps law enforcement better understand crime trends, identify resources needed to combat crime, and steer discussions on best practices and solutions.
Homicides decreased by 13% from the previous year (15 in 2025 vs 17 in 2024), Arlington experienced a 14% reduction in Crimes Against Persons in 2025, which were led by decreases in Assault Offenses, Robbey Offenses, and Sex Offenses. The city also saw an 18% reduction in Crimes Against Property and an 11% increase in Crimes Against Society. The increase in Crimes Against Society can largely be attributed to our officers engaging in more proactive enforcement activity in 2025, in comparison to the previous year.

Each year, Arlington invests millions of dollars into improving the condition and longevity of the City’s vast street network.
This most recent fiscal year was not different. Approximately $15.3 million in funding, generated by the voter-approved street maintenance sales tax, helped make nearly 45 lane miles of roadway smoother for commuters between Oct. 1, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2025.
Street maintenance improvements across the city have allowed 80% of Arlington's roadway network to be maintained at the green or yellow level rating.
