Three Things to Know in Arlington: Sept. 22-28, 2025

It's the first day of fall in Arlington, and we're ready for it! Whether you love a cozy storytime at the Arlington Public Library or an afternoon walk in one of our beautiful parks, we have something for everyone this season. Be sure to check the Community Calendar on the City's website for our upcoming schedule of community events and activities hosted by Parks & Recreation, the Library, Animal Services and Water Utilities. This week's events include

Let's make this a fall to remember!

Arlington residents can bring bulky materials, such as old carpet, appliances, tree limbs, tires, or fence panels, to drop off at the city landfill for free up to three times a year and at a discounted rate for each additional visit.

How does it work? Arlington Water Utilities account holders and authorized users can take advantage of their free and discounted landfill visits by providing a valid Texas driver license or valid Texas ID at the Landfill scale house when bringing in a load of residential trash.

This benefit is only available to homeowners whose permanent residence is in Arlington. The Arlington landfill, located at 800 Mosier Valley Road, is open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. 

The Friends and Foundation of the Arlington Public Library (FFAPL) will be holding its annual Fall Book Sale from Tuesday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 10, 2025.

The local nonprofit works to bring together library lovers, promote public awareness and community support and encourage contributions to support the Arlington Public Library's valuable programs and services.

This year's Fall Book Sale fundraiser will once again be held at the First United Methodist Church at 313 N. Center St. in Downtown Arlington. With most items priced at just $1, you can stock up on your favorite genres without breaking the bank
