Metro Codes Warns of Uncertified Conduit on Job Sites

Food Truck Permitting

Metro regulations require use permits for food trucks and mobile vendors operating on private property on a permanent or semi-permanent basis. There permits are separate from the required Metro Health Department permits for food service.

Authorization forms and a food truck example site plan can be found in the Zoning Examination section of Codes General Publication List.

Hub

The most efficient way for a Codes inspector to address possible property standards, zoning, and building codes violations is to submit a request through HubNashville.

A submission through HubNashville will provide a request identification number that allows you to track the request and receive updates on the status of the case.

Landlord Registration Requirement

Metro ordinance requires owner(s)/agent(s) register their residential properties with the Codes Department Property Standards Division.

The registration fee of $10.00 is to be paid for registration of all units owned. Owners of multiple units within Davidson County are only required to pay a single fee of $10.00 for all units under their ownership.

Codes Adopting Mechanical Code Refrigeration Amendment

On Tuesday August 20th, Nashville's Metro Council voted on second reading for an amendment to Metro's adopted Mechanical Code.

In compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2021 issuance of a rule implementing an 85% economy-wide phasedown in HFC refrigerants by 2036, the International Code Council recently approved six code changes to the 2024 International Mechanical Code.

A2L phase out timeline

These changes permit the use of A2L refrigerants consistent with industry standards and will facilitate compliance with EPA refrigerant regulations. Chapter 11 of the 2018 International Mechanical Code does not allow for A2L refrigerant to be considered a code compliant refrigerant, but Chapter 11 of the 2024 International Mechanical Code does.

Understanding the need to move to a next-generation refrigerant, the Metro Codes Department requested that this code amendment be adopted to ensure that current and future projects comply.

The Metro Council will consider the code amendment for third and final reading on September 3rd meeting.
