Our effort is to continue to "Keep Nashville Home" by providing eligible property owners 65 and older who live in Davidson County with property Tax Relief and Tax Freeze. Eligible property owners with disabilities and Disabled Veterans or Surviving Spouses may qualify for the Tax Relief Program. Disabled Veterans should provide a letter from the Veterans Administrations Office certifying their disability. If you have additional questions or want to speak with Tax Relief or Tax Freeze Specialist, call 615-862-6330.
Due to the cost of living increase, the qualifying income amount for Tax Relief and Tax Freeze Programs has increased. On an annual basis, using a formula implemented into state law, the Tennessee Comptroller's Office provides the qualifying maximum income amount for the Tax Relief and Tax Freeze Programs. Therefore, now is an excellent time to review your 2021 Federal Income Tax Return using the upcoming 2022 Property Tax Year qualifying limits of $45,090 for the Tax Freeze Program and $31,600 for the Tax Relief Program.
To self-determine eligibility, review IRS Forms 1040 or 1040SR Adjusted Gross Income (Line 11), minus Taxable Social Security benefits (Line 6B), plus IRS Form SSA-1099 (Box 3 "Paid by Check or Direct Deposit" amount). It is essential to complete, sign, and return the voucher every year if approved.
