Pay Your Property Taxes Online

The Office of the Metropolitan offers electronic real property and personalty payments online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Central Standard Time. This convenient way of making your payment is located on our website at nashville.gov/trustee; click pay property taxes. We accept MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and E-Checks. To make a payment, find the property using the drop-down menu "Search By" option and search by entering the property owners' first and last names, bill number, property address, or account number, including the tax year. Helpful Tip: When searching by the street name, don't use words like court, street, road, lane, highway, etc. The system does not recognize these words.

If delinquent taxes exist, the dollar amount is subject to change. If you have questions about your statement, please call the Trustee's Office at 615-862-6330 for payment information.

In October, tax statements are mailed, taxes are due and payable on the first Monday of October. Taxes must be paid in full by the last business day in February of the following year to avoid interest. Read More

There are several convenient ways to pay your bill. You have the option of receiving and viewing your statement online. To receive paperless statements, you must first enroll in e-bill. Sign up for e-bill by logging on to our website: nashville.gov/trustee and click pay property taxes or pay or check your taxes.

1. Look up your property to enroll in e-billing and click "View Bill."

2. Click the "E-Bill Sign Up/Edit" button

It will bring up the screen below.

Check the box to agree to receive paperless statements, and you have the option to enter up to five e-mail addresses to receive an electronic statement.

You will receive a confirmation e-mail confirming your enrollment.

This process must be repeated for each property enrolled in e-billing.

Important Reminders:

To receive your 2022 property tax e-bill statement, you must sign up for an e-bill before October.
Updating your name or mailing address with the Metropolitan Nashville Davidson County Assessor of Property will remove the property from e-billing. The property must be reenrolled to continue receiving e-bills. Making edits to your e-bill within the system does not remove the property from e-bill.
E-bills are sent out once per year in October.
If you wish to stop receiving e-bills, delete the information within the fields on the e-bill screen and save.

Payments made on the Metropolitan Trustee's website are recognized by the county as paid on the date of the online transaction. Payments made utilizing your bank's online bill pay service are posted on the date received. Read More

Tennessee law does not require mailing tax statements indicating the amount of taxes due. “Owners of land are presumed to know taxes are due without demand or personal notice” Source: M’Carrol’s Lessee v. Weeks, 6 Tenn. (5 Hayw.) 246 (1814).

Failure to receive a tax statement does not relieve the payment responsibility, nor is this a reason for interest charges to be dismissed if the bill becomes delinquent. Read More

To ensure that we have the most recent mailing address, make sure the mailing address is updated. Any change to the mailing address is done with the Metropolitan Nashville Davidson County Assessor of Property (615) 862-6080. Only the Assessor of Property can update or change the mailing address of the property

Tax payments transmitted by U.S. mail are deemed received on the date on the postmark. However, not all items are postmarked by the United States Postal Service. If the Post Office fails to postmark your payment, it is considered paid on the date received by our office. This applies even if you mail your payment on time.

Bills not paid in full by February 28th accrue interest at the start of March 1st. The interest of 1.5 percent or 18 percent annually is added to the base tax amount on the first day of each month T.C.A. 67-5-2010.

You will not receive a statement if enrolled in the Tax Relief or Tax Freeze Programs. However, you will receive a voucher, including information to renew. You must provide:

Your income amount for the prior year.
Your signature.
A working phone number where you can be reached.

Therefore, completing, signing, and returning the voucher every year is essential.
