DETAILS:
In an effort to address the urgency surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the NAACP Memphis Branch, led by President Van Turner, will share vital information and expertise from a panel of top professionals during the Leading Through COVID-19 Virtual Town Hall Meeting that will replace its regularly scheduled monthly membership meeting on April 23, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. Government leaders will also be on the call to share how they are taking action on your behalf. All are encouraged to call in regardless of membership status. Media is encouraged to call in as well. There will be a Q&A period.
Panelists include the following: Phyllis Aluko (Shelby Co. Chief Public Defender), Karen Camper (Leader, TN House Democratic Caucus), Lee Harris (Shelby County Mayor), Dr. Bruce Randolph (Shelby Co. Health Officer), Patrice Robinson (Chair, Memphis City Council), Douglas Scarboro (SVP, Fed. Reserve Bank of St. Louis), Christy Turner (NAACP Next Gen Alumni), Rev. J. Lawrence Turner (Senior Pastor Mississippi Boulevard), Rev. Ayanna Watkins (Executive Director MICAH), Dr. Angela Whitelaw (Dept. Supt. Of Schools, Shelby County Schools), Joe Young (Chief Deputy Admin Shelby Co Election Commission), and Paul Young (Director, Memphis Div. of Housing). The event will be moderated by Shelby County Commissioner Tami Sawyer.
