Mayor Coleman and Sparc to launch North End Urban Farm  

Project will create Saint Paul’s biggest urban garden 

 

What: Join Mayor Chris Coleman, Sparc and the Association for the Advancement of Hmong Women in Minnesota (AAHWM) as they launch the North End Urban Farm, Saint Paul’s biggest urban garden. The press conference will coincide with the new on-site mini farmers market, open Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Community developer Sparc and its partners started the North End Urban Farm in 2011 as an interim use of vacant land in order to address neighborhood demand for fresh produce and economic opportunity in the North End neighborhood of Saint Paul.

 

The three-acre farm will serve as an incubator for small vegetable growing businesses. Thirteen growers have begun or expanded their operations at the site, with business training provided by AAHWM.
