On Thursday, June 4th, CM Coleman and CM Bowie along with more key community members were given a tour of what is underway at United Village. The site is progressing quickly, and the group was able to walk around the new restaurant pavilions as well as the new office space.
In the pavilions, there will be an Italian pizzeria and a diner. The office space has multiple floors, as well as underground parking below. Along with the Minnesota United team, multiple other organizations will work out of the space. The space will also have a coffee shop and a bakery for both office workers and the community to enjoy. As far as the hotel, it is in an earlier stage of development and was not ready to be toured. The hotel will have 160 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and a parking ramp next to it.
When will it be done? The restaurant pavilions are expected to be completed in the coming months with the office building following close behind. The hotel is planned to be completed in 2027.
 Two Metro Transit Safety Ambassadors.
The Metro Transit Safe and Strong University Avenue Initiative was launched in May 2025 in efforts to increase safety and conditions along the Green Line and University Avenue. It is a collaboration led by Metro Transit Police Department’s Homeless Action Team (HAT) to strengthen community wellbeing through coordinated outreach and focused enforcement. Partners of the collaboration include the Saint Paul Police Department, public health responders, social services staff, and many more.
In 2025, Metro Transit saw success with their “whole community approach” to public safety. HAT provided supplies and resources such as assistance into shelters, Narcan rescue kits, personal hygiene kits, and treatment referrals. With more police presence in the area, Metro Transit also saw success with more officer-initiated calls for service, where an officer was already in the area when an incident occurred. From May 28th to September 24th, 2025, 90.76% of all calls for service were officer initiated. Metro Transit reports that serious crime is down on the entire Metro Transit network and that collaboration between police and public health has improved.
Looking ahead to the plan for 2026, HAT is working with Ramsey County Public Health on an intensive case management pilot project. And, the Metro Transit Police Department, Saint Paul Police Department, and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s office will continue to collaborate to provide focused efforts in Hamline Midway and downtown.

What is the Cumulative Impacts Rule?
The Cumulative Impacts Law passed in 2023 tasked the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) with creating a rule that is intended to address the excess burden of pollution placed on Environmental Justice communities. The rule will go into effect following the public comment period currently taking place and subsequent judicial review expected in September 2026.
Who does the rule apply to?

All facilities applying for new air permits, located in or within 1 mile of an Environmental Justice Area will need to complete an initial assessment.

Benchmarks defined in the draft could trigger a mandatory Cumulative Impacts analysis for certain facilities.

A public petition process is defined for community groups to trigger a discretionary analysis even if the benchmarks are not met.

The Open Road Fund is a community fund giving $50,000 wealth-building gifts to Black folks in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota in order to create tangible pathways to liberation, prosperity, and healing. Learn more about the fund here.
The Open Road Fund opens annually on Juneteenth (June 19th) and closes in late July. Gifts are made from the fund each year until they are fully distributed throughout the region.

Renters’ Rights in Eviction if you were Detained or Afraid to Leave your Home
City of Saint Paul Emergency Rent Assistance: The Emergency Rental Assistance Program offers support to renter households in Saint Paul facing a pending eviction due to unforeseen circumstances when other assistance options are unavailable. Eligible households may receive a one-time payment of up to $3,500 for late rent and associated fees, paid directly to the landlord. Residents are only eligible for funding once a year.

Now through June 14th, you can visit the We Are Water Exhibit. We Are Water MN is a traveling exhibit that examines water issues across the state and in local communities through personal stories, histories, and scientific information. It strengthens Minnesotans’ relationships with water, exposes visitors to new perspectives, and increases participation in water stewardship activities.
The 2026 exhibit, hosted by Capitol Region Watershed District runs until June 14th, at the Watershed Learning Center, 595 Aldine Street.
