In my conversations with constituents, colleagues and partners lately, one theme keeps emerging: This is a time of overwhelm.
The chaotic churn at the federal level and the rapid pace of developments here at home has made it feel impossible to keep up. People are rightfully asking, “What is the right thing to do in this moment? How can we stay focused on what really matters when everything around us feels like it’s in flux?”
These are the moments when those of us in leadership positions need to provide consistency and vision. We need to have a plan that overrides the day-to-day tumult and helps us steer toward the goals we want to achieve for our city.

Welcome Ward 2’s new Legislative Aide
Our office is excited to announce our new Legislative Aide, Megan Jekot! Megan started with us on February 10 and has hit the ground running. She comes to us from Saint Paul Promise, a community initiative housed at the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, where she worked for three and a half years as the Advocacy and Systems Change Program Manager. In this role, she collaborated with families and scholars to transform learning systems, improve educational outcomes, and create opportunities from cradle to career in Saint Paul.
Megan grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, before moving to Minnesota to attend St. Olaf College in Northfield. There, she majored in Political Science with a concentration in Race and Ethnic Studies and an emphasis in Social Work. After graduating in 2016, Megan worked in policy roles with the Minnesota Department of Human Services and the City of Minneapolis. She also gained valuable experience in communications and development at the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy.
Megan now lives in Saint Paul with her partner and rescue pup, Cider. When not working at City Hall, she enjoys exploring local, regional, and state parks with her family in their camper van, training for her next half-marathon with Run Minnesota, and tackling home improvement projects. She also loves crafting her next State Fair entry and immersing herself in a wide range of books, magazines, and newspapers in her downtime.
