Event: Twin Cities Walk to Defeat ALS
Description of Variance:
Location: Lake Phalen Park
Noise Source: The ALS Association Minnesota North Dakota South Dakota Chapter, Twin Cities Walk to Defeat ALS, represented by Ryan Stauff, Vice President of Development, has requested a sound level variance, at a requested sound level limit of above 65 dBA and at no specified distance, in order to present music and announcements at Lake Phalen Park from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017. The Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI) recommends the following conditions: 1. The variance shall be for the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017. 2. All electronically powered equipment used in conjunction with the event shall not exceed 85 dBA as measured at 50 feet from the sound source. 3. The applicant shall provide personnel and equipment to monitor sound level limits as specified in Condition #2. 4. All electronically powered sound equipment, PA systems, loudspeakers or similar devices shall be turned off no later than 1:00 p.m. on the event date.
A public hearing before the City Council on this variance request will be held on:
