Girl, 2, gravely wounded in early morning shooting in Saint Paul

Saint Paul police are investigating an early morning shooting in the city’s North End neighborhood that left three people injured, including a 2-year-old girl.

Officers patrolling the area heard several gunshots just after midnight, and several callers to the Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center said they came from a residence on the 200 block of Maryland Avenue West.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located three people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Saint Fire medics were called and Shawn Vang, 23; Lee Lor, 27; and a 2-year-old girl were transported to Regions Hospital to be treated.

Vang and Lor suffered non-life threatening injuries. The child suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently in critical condition.

The department’s Forensic Services Unit has processed the scene, and homicide investigators and patrol officers canvassed the area throughout the morning. Several witnesses were brought to police headquarters for questioning—but others have been uncooperative.

Based on information gathered from those who were willing to speak with investigators, there does appear to be a connection between the shooter or shooters and at least one of the victims. The exact nature of their relationship remains under investigation.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting and who is responsible. They are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Saint Paul Police Department Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650.
