Eastview Community news and calendar

Eastview Neighbors!

Thanks to those who made it to last week’s Eastview community meeting. The big news is that renovation work is underway, and Saint Paul Urban Tennis will be moving into the refurbished Eastview Recreation Center by April! With SPUT, we’ll see the return of youth-centered programming at your neighborhood rec center.

At our February meeting, Saint Paul Police Sergeant Amber Larson presented crime statistics for the neighborhood, for the first three weeks of January and February, in the area bounded by Minnehaha, Johnson Parkway, Burns and Ruth. Here are her comments:

  • Aggravated Assaults - 2 total, however both were domestic/family related
  • Auto Thefts - an increase from 4 to 7.  Four out of the seven were taken on Old Hudson. Our Crime Intelligence continues to track the data and assists on when and where to deploy our resources.
  • Burglary - 2 burglaries occurred near Johnson Pkwy/Wilson.  One of them was a TV stolen from a community room but is still considered a burglary.
  • Robbery - This is great, we did not have any in these grids.
  • Thefts - 3 out of the 8 are shoplifting, 2 are stolen license plates, one theft out of locker, one left where neighbor suspected
  • Weapons - 2 calls for shots fired from these grids.

Please join us for the next Eastview Community meeting on Wednesday March 22, from 6 - 7:30 pm.

And we’re looking ahead to these exciting community events at Eastview:

April [Date TBD] -Saint Paul Urban Tennis Eastview Open House, where the whole neighborhood is welcomed to see the revitalized rec center and learn more about SPUT’s programs and plans to serve kids and families on the East Side.

June 8 - Safe Summer Nights cookout and fun for the whole family, complete with a delicious barbecue, bounce house, climbing wall, visits from the Police K-9 and Mounted Horse Patrol Units, etc., put on by the Saint Paul Police Department

July 28  - Saint Paul Urban Tennis Summer Picnic, Eastview community is invited to join SPUT students, families and staff

Please plan to join your neighbors for the next Eastview Community meeting on March 22, 6 pm!
