SAINT PAUL – The City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County today announced the 2017 Black History Month speaker series, beginning this week. The theme, “Our Service, Our History, Our Sacrifice,” focuses on the service of African Americans in the military, as well as the destruction of the Saint Paul Rondo Neighborhood in the 1960s with the construction of Interstate 94.
Public officials participating in this inspirational and informative series include Ramsey County Commissioner Janice Rettman, Ramsey County Commissioner Toni Carter, Mayor Chris Coleman, Deputy Mayor Kristin Beckmann, and City Council President Russ Stark.
Honoring the Service of African American Veterans
WHAT: Tuskegee Airmen presentation by Joel Brown, Panel of African-American veterans and current service members, with Commissioner Toni Carter acting as master of ceremonies

WHAT: Opening remarks from Commissioner Rettman, Mayor Coleman, Deputy Mayor Beckmann and Council President Stark, followed by a panel discussion with Debbie Montgomery, Nieeta Presley and other former Rondo Residents
