Description of Variance:

Location: Eid-al-Adha Muslim Prayer Festival Service will be located outdoors at the Oxford Community Center Football Field, 270 Lexington Parkway North  

Noise Source: Tawfiq Islamic Center has applied for a sound level variance in order to provide announcements and prayer for a Eid-al-Adha Muslim Prayer Festival Service at the Oxford Community Center Football Field, 270 Lexington Parkway North. The Eid-al Adha Muslim Prayer Festival Service is to be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 or Friday, September 25, 2015, from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a pre-event sound check between 6:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. The Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI) recommends the following conditions: 1) The variance shall be for the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a pre-event sound check  from 6:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 or Friday, September 25, 2015. 2) All electronically powered equipment used in conjunction with the event shall not exceed 75 dBA as measured 50 feet from any sound source used for prayer and/or announcements. 3) The applicant shall provide personnel and equipment to ensure compliance with the sound level variance conditions. 4) All electronically powered equipment, PA systems, loudspeakers or similar devices shall be turned off no later than 10:30 a.m. on the date of the event.
