Job duties:

Patrols all areas within city limits and enforces all parking regulations and parking violations on city and/or private property. Performs non-sworn entry-level parking enforcement work, enforcing vehicle registration laws and parking regulation violations. Tows and impounds vehicles in violation of these parking regulations. Writes, issues, and records summonses related to parking violations, including emergency, tow-away, truck, or rush hour zones and obstruction of building entrances or fire hydrants. Monitors parking meters and parking regulation signage, reporting any inoperative meters or sign damage observed. Testifies in court. Provides information to the public concerning parking regulations, building locations, directions, and other requested information. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license. The driver's license must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses within the two year period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded.

 

Must be enrolled in or have completed a Peace Officers Standards and Training Board-approved law enforcement or criminal justice program by date of appointment. This enrollment must be maintained throughout employment until the date of graduation from the program.
