Fatal Crash

On December 10, 2022, at approximately 10:32 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a report of a crash with injuries near the address of 21879 23^rd Ave in St. Augusta. This address is located approximately 5 miles south of St. Cloud. The caller, a passing motorist, had located the crash.  He reported that there was one male inside the vehicle with an unknown life status. Once additional bystanders arrived, they were able to remove the driver from the vehicle and start CPR.

Deputies arrived on scene and continued lifesaving measures. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, and the driver was declared deceased at the scene.  The investigation determined that Charlie Boike, 17, of St. Augusta, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound on 23^rd Avenue in St. Augusta.  The roads at the time of the crash were slippery due to weather and precipitation throughout the day.  The Chevrolet Trailblazer left the road, entered the ditch, and rolled. Boike was restrained at the time of the crash.  The St. Augusta Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
