Fairhaven Township House Fire

On January 7, 2022, at approximately 8:45 AM, Stearns County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a house fire located at 1908 Bayberry Road in Fairhaven Township. Upon arrival, the home was nearly engulfed in flames. Two occupants, Ricky Pettis, 64, and Darwin Pettis, 80, were inside the home when the fire started. Both were both able to safely exit the home during the fire

A propane gas heater inside the home was being used to defrost pipes and is believed to be the cause of the fire. The home sustained significant damage. Darwin Pettis was evaluated on scene by Mayo Ambulance for possible smoke inhalation.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fairhaven Fire Department, Clearwater Fire Department, Annandale Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance. The Red Cross is assisting both occupants with any temporary housing needs.
