Rollover Crash Results in Injury
On December 6, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. the Stearns County Communications Center received a call reporting a two-vehicle crash at County Road 1 and 390th Street in Brockway Township, which is approximately 2 miles north of the City of Sartell.
Stearns County Deputies arrived on scene and found one vehicle, a 2015 Ford Escape, driven by Jacob Halverson, 34, Rice, MN and occupied with his two children, ages 5 and 3. They had been traveling northbound on County Road 1. The other vehicle, a 2012 Nissan Rogue, driven by Debra Schmitz, 68, Rice MN had been traveling eastbound on 390th Street. The vehicles collided near the intersection.
Halverson and his two children were treated by Mayo Ambulance and released from the scene. Schmitz’s vehicle rolled over and she was trapped inside and had to be extracted by St. Stephen Fire & Rescue. She was transported by Mayo Ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Dense fog is believed to be a factor in the crash.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the St. Stephen Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance.
