In recognition of Stearns County being a top dairy producer in Minnesota, the trail was given the name Dairyland Trail. The trail is aggregate surfaced and used for biking, walking, horseback riding, and snowmobiling. The trail is 10 miles in length and runs through a landscape dotted with dairy farms, cornfields and remnant prairie. There are trailheads in Elrosa and Greenwald.
Minnesota Trails is a quarterly outdoor magazine featuring Minnesota’s parks, trails and rivers. The Dairyland Trail (a Stearns County Trail) was highlighted on the June 4, 2020 blog. Check it out: https://mntrails.com/physically-distant-on-the-dairyland-trail/
