Medical Emergencies

Deputies respond to two separate medical emergencies at Quarry Park on July 3rd.

Medical Emergency #1:

On July 3rd, 2020 at approximately 12:44 p.m., Stearns County deputies responded to a medical emergency at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve at 1802 County Road 137 in the city of Waite Park.

The caller reported a female fell from the rocks in the swimming quarry and suffered a head and leg injury. Upon arrival, deputies found the female at the entrance of Quarry #2. She was identified as 20-year-old Alexis Marie Hennen of Prior Lake, MN.

Ms. Hennen suffered a laceration to the back of her head, a cut to the left heel and a suspected sprained ankle. Deputies administered first aid procedures until Mayo Ambulance arrived to take over care.

Ms. Hennen was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for further treatment.

Medical Emergency #2

On July 3rd, 2020 at approximately 3:10 p.m., a Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Recreation Patrol Officer came across a medical emergency at Quarry #2 at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve located at 1802 County Road 137 in the city of Waite Park.

The deputy learned Michaella Huffman, 23, of Circle Pines, jumped off the cliff at the swimming quarry and another person jumped after her landing on her head while in the water. She became unconscious in the water. Two friends pulled her from the water onto the rocks nearby. Ms. Huffman regained consciousness just before being pulled from the water. She complained of neck and back pain.

Mayo Ambulance transported Ms. Huffman to the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
