Boo-HaHa Annual Halloween Festival
ROCK HILL, SC – Although COVID-19 will bring changes to Rock Hill’s 37th annual Boo-HaHa, the Halloween festival will take place in downtown Rock Hill. OTS Media and the Old Town Association, with the help of local businesses, are expanding the celebration to the “20 days of Halloween 2020.” Starting Monday, October 12 through Friday, October 30, all of OTS Media’s stations along with social media platforms from WRHI and Old Town Rock Hill will feature 20 days of costume contests for ages infant to 12, along with interactive on-air promotions including free prizes and giveaways. Boo-HaHa will end on Saturday, October 31 with a fun-filled drive through Trick or Treat experience at Fountain Park in downtown Rock Hill from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Cars will enter from the Oakland Avenue intersection going one way (toward the park) through two festive lanes of Halloween decorations. When they approach the fountain area, volunteers wearing face coverings and gloves will distribute a FREE pre-filled bag of candy to each child. Children are encouraged to dress in costume and all participants will be required to stay in their cars. Police officers will direct traffic onto, and off of Main Street.
OTS Special Events Coordinator Tyler Cupp stated, “This annual Halloween celebration was started in 1983 as a safe alternative to neighborhood Trick or Treating and has grown every year since. Because of COVID-19, the event is more important than ever.” Old Town coordinator Martin Lane added, “We would have loved to continue our traditional Boo-HaHa celebration this year, but feel we have formulated a great plan to assure safety for our children and still celebrate the spirit of the season.” The 37th annual Boo-HaHa is the City’s only officially endorsed Halloween celebration in 2020.
