On Wednesday night, Richland County hosted its annual Legislative Reception at The Township Auditorium in Columbia. The event gave County Councilmembers and County staff the chance to fellowship and forge partnerships with corporate partners and state dignitaries.
Featuring hors d’oeuvres and the sounds of The Terence Young Experience, the reception highlighted the community togetherness Richland County Government aims to foster among County stakeholders to provide premium public services.

Earlier this week, Richland County Auditor Paul Brawley announced he will not seek re-election for a sixth term. Brawley will not file for re-election in March but will complete his current term, which ends June 30, 2027.
First elected in 2006, Brawley was the first African American elected to one of Richland County’s seven county-wide elected positions.
“It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Richland County as their County Auditor,” Brawley said. “I have taken great pride in making the Auditor’s Office transparent and accessible to the taxpayers of Richland County, while stressing to my staff the importance of prompt and courteous customer service."

Mackey named one of Columbia's 50 'Most Influential'
Jesica Mackey, Chairwoman of Richland County Council, was recently named one of Columbia's 50 most influential people of the past year by Columbia Business Monthly.

Proclamation shows pride for Little League champions
On Wednesday, County Councilman Jason Branham (District 1) presented a proclamation to the Irmo Little League honoring the organization’s winning year.
During the league’s 2025 season, four baseball and one softball division garnered state championships, with four teams making it all the way to the World Series, the first time a U.S. baseball league has sent four teams that far into the postseason. In September, the Irmo Little League All-Stars competed in the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania, winning three games.

Treasurer's employee lauded for responsiveness, diligence
A Richland County Treasurer's Office staff member was recently recognized for providing excellent customer service.
A resident who dealt with the office over several months praised Vodray Hollis for being responsive and working diligently to ensure their needs were met.
