County offices closing to the public Monday
With winter weather forecasted to impact the Midlands this weekend, Richland County is continuing with preparations to include closing government offices to the public Monday, Jan. 26. The County’s Solid Waste and Recycling facilities will also be closed to the public Monday.
A winter storm watch for the County is in effect from 7 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 through 1 p.m. Monday. Forecasted ice accumulations could lead to icy roads and sidewalks, along with power outages and falling tree branches, making for hazardous travel. During inclement weather, residents are encouraged to avoid travel to keep roadways as clear as possible for emergency vehicles, first responders, and other work crews.
While offices are closed, residents can access services, including those by the Auditor, Treasurer, Assessor and other offices, on the County’s website.
Last Friday, Richland County Council and County Administration wrapped up the County's annual Strategic Planning Forum in Charlotte, N.C.
The forum kicked off with updates on the operational, fiscal and legislative affairs of County government, followed by remarks from Mark Jerrell, chair of the Mecklenburg (N.C.) Board of County Commissioners on governing effectively. Attendees ended the first day with a tour of the city's South End neighborhood.
Day 2 of the forum began with a discussion on Richland County's 2025 Comprehensive Plan and proposals for continuing smart growth and development in our communities. Dynamic conversations and productive collaborations followed, with Council and staff generating renewed excitement for the future. Find out more in the video links below.
