County announces closings for Veterans Day
Richland County Government offices will close Tuesday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.
All Richland County Solid Waste facilities will be closed Tuesday and will reopen during regular operating hours Wednesday, Nov. 12. These include the Richland County C&D Landfill, Lower Richland Drop-Off Center and Clemson Road Recycling Site. Curbside collection in the County will not be affected and will operate as scheduled.
The County’s Jim Hamilton-L.B. Owens Airport terminal and Fixed Base Operator (FBO) services will operate on a normal schedule Tuesday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
While government offices are closed, residents can access many services on the County’s website: www.richlandcountysc.gov, including those by the Auditor, Treasurer, Assessor and other offices.
Richland County, on Friday, held a ceremony to recognize the service and valor of Veterans of the U.S Armed Forces who are also part of the County employee workforce.
Councilwoman Tyra K. Little (District 3), and who served in both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy, was the keynote speaker. County Administrator Leonardo Brown hosted the event, and County Council Chairwoman Jesica Mackey welcomed attendees.
The event was a reminder of the gift of service and what it means to lead with commitment and heart. While less than 1% of Americans volunteer to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, more than 10% of Richland County Government’s workforce are veterans.
