On Thursday, Richland County Voter Registration and Elections officially unveiled its recently completed office at 7201 Two Notch Road, Columbia, in the former JCPenney site at Columbia Place Mall. Travis Alexander, director of Voter Registration and Elections, gave members of County Council and Administration a tour of the building.

The Richland County Office of Small Business Opportunity (OSBO) held its “Good 2 Great” workshop last Friday at the USC Columbia Technology Incubator. Charles Charlestin, OSBO’s business development & outreach coordinator, presented at the event.
Attendees learned the benefits of Small Local Business Enterprise certification, gained insights on how to secure County contracts, received info on B2B opportunities and more.

'Stuff an Ambulance' to help make holidays brighter

Help make a child’s Christmas by donating new unwrapped toys, blankets, socks, book bags and other items for youth in need to Richland County EMS’ “Stuff an Ambulance” toy drive this holiday season. All donations will benefit the County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates, a program that serves abused and neglected children.
Through Dec. 4, drop off donations at EMS Headquarters, 1410 Laurens St., Columbia, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more info, call 803-576-3409.
Public meetings contribute to plans for continued growth
The final public forum to gather input for updating the County’s Comprehensive Plan took place Monday at Bluff Road Park in Columbia. Residents engaged with Councilwoman Cheryl English (District 10) and staff from Planning and Development Services, giving feedback and helping create a roadmap for the County's future.

Richland County has several vacancies for volunteers on numerous advisory councils, boards and committees. If you've ever wanted to help shape the future of our communities and the prosperity of our County, now is the time.

County staff receive kudos for helpful customer service

Richland County staff were recently recognized for providing valuable customer service.
A resident commended Tommy DeLage and Sean Busbee, both of the County's Zoning Division. The resident said DeLage and Busbee answered another resident's questions about a property and were very helpful in the process.
A second resident complimented Terri Bennett, of the County Assessor's Office. The resident commended Bennett for being patient and giving great customer service while helping a couple.
