This Week’s Progress (Feb. 28-March 6)
Marinex Construction continued placing sand along the central portion of the Island’s shoreline, with work now occurring in the area near the Sonesta Resort in Shipyard.
Cape Romain Contractors kept building breakwater structures at Pine Island Beach. The beach is still closed to the public while this work continues.
Looking Ahead (March 7-13)
Marinex Construction will continue replenishing sand along the central stretch of the Island’s shoreline. Follow our beach renourishment tracker to see where work is happening.
Heads-up: In late March, crews anticipate mobilizing in the South Beach area, known as Hilton Head Island’s toe. Check out the Island’s shape and our project timeline here.
Cape Romain Contractors will continue to work on the breakwater structures at Pine Island Beach. They anticipate completing them the first week of April, with beach tilling to follow. We'll let you know the exact reopening date soon.
Reminder: Beach renourishment work occurs 24/7. We are doing everything we can to minimize disruptions caused by noise and equipment. We appreciate your patience as construction work progresses.
Stay Connected
Thank you for your patience and support as we work together to enhance and preserve the beauty of our Island's shoreline!

Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue recently visited Hilton Head Island Middle School to give students a firsthand look at how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is transforming modern emergency response. Lt. Trey Daniel and Firefighter Zachary Elicks spent their time there engaging students with hands-on demonstrations, allowing them to explore specialized equipment and advanced tools used in emergencies. The visit not only brought classroom concepts to life but also inspired students to consider future careers in public safety and emergency services.

MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston hosted its own mini lantern parade last week! Under the guidance of our awesome Office of Cultural Affairs team, patients and families created lanterns inspired by the Town’s annual Hilton Head Lantern Parade event. After decorating the lanterns, everyone had the chance to show off their creations in a parade through the hospital’s hallways, filling it with light, laughter, and a lot of joy. Check out the wonderful creations here.

Daylight saving time begins on Sunday, March 8. Remember to set your clocks forward one hour at 2 a.m., and use this time as a reminder to check your smoke alarms.
If your smoke alarm has a sealed 10-year battery and begins to chirp, replace the entire unit. For alarms with replaceable batteries, install a new battery at least once a year and replace it immediately if a low-battery warning sounds. Properly working smoke alarms are essential to maintaining a safe home.
