Alligator Safety
With warmer temperatures come more opportunities to spot the amazing alligators in our parks! As the weather heats up, reptiles become more active, so it’s the perfect time to observe them in their natural habitat. While it’s exciting to see these incredible critters, it’s important to stay safe while doing so. Here are some tips to help you safely enjoy wildlife viewing:
- Stay at a safe distance – Alligators are best admired from afar. Keep a wide berth to ensure both your safety and theirs.
- Don’t feed them – Feeding alligators can change their natural behavior and put you and other park patrons in a dangerous situation.
- Be aware of your surroundings – Always keep an eye out for alligators, especially near water. If you see one, enjoy the view from a safe spot.
- Keep pets on a leash – Alligators can be attracted to small animals, so make sure your dog is always on a leash to keep them safe.
By following these simple guidelines, we can all enjoy our incredible wildlife safely
