Dorchester County Rosebrock Park and Davis-Bailey Park Open TRACK Trails for Kids and Families
Visit our new Kids in Parks TRACK Trails kiosks at Rosebrock and Davis-Bailey Parks!
This new TRACK Trail offers visitors a series of self-guided activity brochures that turn an ordinary hike into a fun-filled, discover-packed adventure. The trail’s Types of Trees activity helps children learn about the different varieties of oak, maple, and pine trees found along the trail. The Birds of the Woods and Wetlands activity provides participants with identification information for some of the park’s popular bird species.
Kids who participate in the program can register their TRACK Trail adventures at KidsinParks.com to earn a series of prizes designed to make their next outdoor adventure even more fun and meaningful. Since the program’s inception, more than a million TRACK Trail adventures have been completed by kids.

A well-rounded outdoor educational experience that facilitates interest based learning through outdoor exploration, STEM activities, crafts, story times, and imaginative play. Program will encourage teamwork and group activities, critical thinking skills, foster a love for STEM subjects, provide an opportunity for artistic expression through crafts and activities and encourage imaginative play and self expression. Program runs for 8 weeks.

Pond Patrol

Participants will engage in hands on activities such as water quality testing, species identification, habitat assessment, as well as, learn about the various organisms and roles in the environment. The program will focus on fostering environmental stewardship, the importance of biodiversity, ecological balance, and conservation efforts in maintaining a healthy pond ecosystem. Through guided observations and interactive lessons, participants gain a deeper appreciation of aquatic life. Pre register here.

SCDNR instructor, Tom Lindenmayer, will be on hand to teach skills on how to tie fishing knots, how to rig a rod and reel, learn to cast, fish identification and more! The best part is everyone will get to try their hand at fishing. Kids from ages 6 to adults are welcome, so come out and play, enjoy the outdoors and make this a Family Fun Day! Kayak the Ashley River with Blueway Adventures

Tour Description
Enjoy smooth flowing waters as we paddle with the tide on the scenic Upper Ashley River. Large Live Oaks line the banks of this historic river and provide cooling shade for paddlers. Herons, hawks, egrets, turtles and other wildlife adorn this unique ecosystem. Look for Barred Owls and Swallow-tailed Kites along the way. Join us on a relaxing tour with a master naturalist guide who will share information about the river’s wildlife, flowers, and history. Tour includes guide, kayak, paddle, life jacket, and basic instruction. Guides meet paddlers at Howard Bridgman boat landing with kayaks/gear. Pre-registration required. Fall Floral Wreath Workshop

The Summerville Orchestra is hosting its 2nd annual Pops in the Park and Beat Beethoven 5k nature trail run/walk! This is an event for runners, walkers and music listeners alike!
In addition to performing Beethoven's iconic Fifth Symphony, the Summerville Orchestra will feature a selection of rousing favorites, including John Williams' "Harry Potter" and Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries."
Runners will be challenged to outrun the orchestra as we play Beethoven's 5th Symphony. This is a nature trail run/walk so please have good nature running shoes on.
For pint-size runners, we have a small run prior to the 5K.
Festivities start at 1 p.m. and the 5k starting at 3 p.m.
For Runners! Registration is $45. No onsite registration will be offered

PuzzlePalooza!

Get your team (2-4 people) to compete in DCPR's family friendly PuzzlePalooza program! Teams will race to complete a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle the fastest. There will be a 2 hour time limit. Environmental Education Field Trips
