Dorchester County Announces Changes to COVID-19 Mobile Testing Schedule
Dorchester County partnered with MUSC Health and the Town of Summerville to offer mobile COVID-19 testing at Gahagan Park every Tuesday and Thursday beginning August 4.
However, after reevaluating the demand for drive thru testing in addition to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Services’ (DHEC) commitment to provide testing one day per week in each county, the decision to scale back testing has been made. Testing will no longer be available every Tuesday and Thursday at Gahagan Park. The park may however be used as a DHEC testing site.
Dorchester County Council Chairman, George Bailey said “I’m pleased to see the number of positive cases and the demand for testing in Dorchester County decline, but we are not out of the woods yet. We must remain vigilant with social distancing and wearing a mask when social distancing isn’t possible.” Bailey added “Team Dorchester County continues to work with DHEC and local agency partners to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and will continue to assess the need for mobile testing sites in the future.”
