City Working to Reduce Outstanding Police Secondary Employment Payments for Taxpayers
Pittsburgh, PA – As of November 2024, the City of Pittsburgh had more than $3.2 million in 120-day outstanding invoices for police secondary employment owed to the taxpayers of Pittsburgh. As of today, that number is down to $340,000.
The Mayor’s Office, Public Safety and Pittsburgh Police have been working with the City’s secondary employment vendor to change the process to avoid substantial outstanding amounts due and to get the current outstanding amounts down to $0. They are also working to change the payment period from 120 days to 90 days.
“I want to give credit to Public Safety and Police leadership for working to make sure our taxpayers aren’t footing the bill for private secondary employment,” said Mayor Corey O’Connor. “As I’ve promised in my conversations about the budget, we will be looking at every dollar and every contract for our taxpayers.”
