Plan Ahead: Pittsburgh Marathon Road Closures Sunday May 4
Dear District 6 Neighbors,
Sunday, May 4th, the 2025 Pittsburgh Marathon will pass through numerous neighborhoods in our city, including parts of Downtown, the North Shore, Strip District, Hill District, and South Side. Road closures will begin as early as 1:30 AM and continue into the afternoon, with Downtown closures lasting until approximately 2:50 PM.
Key Details to Keep in Mind:
✅ Avoid Driving Through Downtown from 5:30 AM – 2:50 PM ✅ Oxford Centre area will be inaccessible from 5:30 AM – 11:45 AM ✅ Plan Ahead: Park vehicles outside the red-shaded course area if early travel is needed
Smart Travel Tips:
-
Use the Port Authority “T” (light rail) — it’s free within Downtown and the North Shore
-
To escape Downtown, use Bigelow Blvd. or Liberty Tunnel depending on your direction
-
Follow posted detours and pay attention to marathon route signage
