Ribbon Cutting for FNB Tower – A New Era for the Hill District
On February 18, Councilman Lavelle attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new FNB Tower, a pivotal project in the revitalization of the Lower Hill and its reconnection to Pittsburgh’s Downtown. This exciting development serves as a catalyst for nearly $1 billion in economic expansion, bringing new opportunities and growth to the region.
The FNB Tower is a part of a broader initiative that includes more than $200 million in loans, investments, and grants directly benefiting the Hill District. In addition, the project is expected to generate over $7 million in LERTA funds, which will be allocated to the Greater Hill District Reinvestment Fund to support ongoing neighborhood revitalization efforts.
As part of the commitment to equitable development, $1 million in equity funding has been dedicated to provide working capital for minority contractors, ensuring that local businesses have the opportunity to actively participate in the development. The project also includes a significant focus on diversity, with goals of 30% minority business enterprise and 15% women-owned business participation, fostering inclusive growth and opportunity for all.
This monumental step forward marks an exciting chapter for the Hill District and the city of Pittsburgh, bringing both economic growth and community empowerment to the forefront of development.

Homeowners Assistance Program Now Open - Up to $35K in Grants for Property Rehab
We are excited to announce the opening of the Homeowners Assistance Program, a fantastic opportunity for homeowners in District 6 to receive financial assistance for home repairs and rehabilitation. In partnership with Action Housing, this program offers grants of up to $35,000 for homeowner-occupied properties in need of rehab work.
This program is unique because, instead of offering a loan, all funding will be provided as grants, meaning you won’t have to repay the assistance. However, the grants do come with a 10-year deed restriction, which limits the resale of the property during that period.
Action Housing will be administering the program, and all applications will be processed through the HOME Allegheny Platform, which is an easy-to-use online portal. There is no paper application, so you can apply directly online at: HOME Allegheny Platform
Application Period: February 14 – March 14, 2025
If you have any questions or need assistance with the application, please reach out to: Email: homeallegheny@actionhousing.org Phone: 412-248-0021
This program is a great opportunity to improve the condition of your home and help revitalize our community. Be sure to apply before the deadline!
