New Basketball Court at East Allegheny Commons serve North Side Youth
Pittsburgh, PA – Today, Mayor Ed Gainey, Councilman Bobby Wilson and other city officials joined community members from Pittsburgh’s Northside in celebrating the opening of Pittsburgh’s newest basketball court.
The new basketball court is located right across from Sue Murray Pool in Pittsburgh’s East Allegheny Commons Park where a half-sized non-regulation court once stood.
“It's important that we invest in our kids and provide them a safe place to have fun. This basketball court represents our commitment towards violence prevention and giving our youth an opportunity to grow up healthy in a city that wants them to thrive,” said Mayor Ed Gainey
During the last few months, the Department of Public Works worked closely with residents to ensure that the new basketball court would meet there needs. The new court comes with new efficient lighting and playing surface.
