City of Pittsburgh Re-Opens Dinosaur Playground
Schenley Park’s Anderson Playground Opens in time for 4th of July
Pittsburgh, PA – Today, Mayor Ed Gainey and City of Pittsburgh officials joined representatives from Allegheny Regional Asset District in celebrating the opening of Pittsburgh’s newest playground.
The new playground is cattycorner to the closed Charles Anderson bridge, which will begin a thorough rehabilitation starting this summer.
“We ‘re proud to have the much beloved Dinosaur Playground open in time for the 4th of July weekend. The Department of Public Works, Pittsburgh City Council, and CitiParks working together collaboratively made the redesigned playground happen. Playgrounds are an important part of the community that help allow children a safe place to be, residents to gather and keep a neighborhood vibrant,” said Mayor Ed Gainey
During the last few years, the Department of Public Works collaborated with residents to develop a design that was community-centered and accessible. Included in the construction of the new Dinosaur Playground are two-separate play areas aimed at children from 2-5 years old and 5-12 years old respectively. In addition to swings, picnic tables, poured-in-place safety surface, sensory climbing structure, and a new hammock area.
