Temporary Safer Sidewalk Configurations & Traffic Impacts
Updates on Negley Avenue & Brighton Road Sidewalks
Pittsburgh, PA – Starting today, City of Pittsburgh residents can expect temporary changes to sidewalks on Brighton Road and Negley Avenue. The upcoming changes aim to create a safer path for pedestrians over bridges on Brighton Rd. and Negley Ave.
-
Brighton Rd.: The sidewalk along the bridge over the railroad tracks at Brighton Rd. and North Ave. closed on Monday, March 18th. At this time, we are constructing a temporary protected pedestrian pathway along the roadway to ensure safe travel for the most vulnerable road users.
-
Negley Ave.: The sidewalk along the eastern half of the bridge spanning the busway will close while a protected pedestrian passage is established along the roadway.
In order to accommodate the protected pedestrian passage at Brighton Rd. and North Ave., the right turn lane will remain closed to motorists until the sidewalk is returned to full operating capacity. Additionally, ADA ramps will be placed along the passage to accommodate wheelchair and mobility device users.
Two-way vehicular traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of the sidewalk closure.
