Welcome to the PWD Construction Newsletter!
Every quarter, we'll update you on upcoming or ongoing water projects in your area.
You're receiving this because your ZIP code falls within Council District 7, represented by Councilmember Quetcy Lozada. This district includes parts of North Philadelphia, including the Kensington, Fairhill, Feltonville, Juniata, Harrowgate, Hunting Park, and Frankford neighborhoods.
If your ZIP code overlaps multiple districts, you'll get newsletters for each.
District 10 ZIP codes include: 19120, 19122, 19124, 19125, 19133, 19134, 19140, and 19149.

What types of infrastructure does PWD work on?
Water Mains
Reliable mains mean fewer main breaks and damage to our roads. These mains ensure we're delivering safe drinking water to your home.
Sewers
Sewers are replaced before breaks happen. Collecting and treating wastewater is our commitment to the health and vitality of our area.
Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI)
These systems are installed to better manage stormwater overflows. Inlets and basins are added underground to soak up water runoff.

When you visit a Project Page, view the Construction Letter (under “Project Files”) to learn about specific construction impacts for each project.
Direct Impact Area: Streets with active construction
- Open trenches in your street
- Loss of water throughout the work, with 24-hour notice given for any shutoffs lasting more than 30 minutes
- Closed blocks and temporary no parking, with access for residents
- Change in trash pick up locations
- Active construction with loud noises from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Rough temporary pavements during off-site water testing
General Impact Area: Local vicinity that may feel the impacts of active construction

Project Spotlight: GSI Project #50317 Northwood Park Streets
|
|
|
What we're doing: Building systems to better manage stormwater overflows. Inlets and basins are added underground to soak up water runoff.
GSI projects protect our waterways through Green City, Clean Waters and help meet federal-regulated pollution reduction goals.
Timeline: Work began in August 2024 and is roughly halfway complete in Summer 2025. Trees will be planted for completed installations in Fall 2025.

Lead and Service Lines
Residential service lines are owned by the property owner. We estimate about 1 in 20 Philadelphia properties may have a lead service line.
During planned water main construction, we offer to replace any lead service line from our water main all the way to the customer's meter. This service is offered free of charge.
